Rising fuel costs drive higher ticket prices

July 3, 2008
By Wynette Jameson of Clear Creek High School

League City – Sometimes you have to give a little to gain a lot. While sports fans will have to dig a little deeper in their pockets to attend athletic events in District 24-5A this fall, a new agreement allows the Clear Creek Independent School District to keep all money from home football games instead of splitting gate receipts with the visiting team.

The two year contract between all 24-5A football teams was approved Tuesday, July 1 by the district committee made up of head principals from high schools in five school districts: Clear Creek ISD, Galveston ISD, Dickinson ISD, Alvin ISD and Brazosport ISD.  It raises presale tickets from $2 and $4 to $3 and $5. Tickets purchased at the gate will now be $6 instead of $5.

Ticket prices for all other athletic events are also going up in an effort to pay for rising event and transportation costs. Admission will be $4 for adults and $2 for students. The money generated by athletic events in Clear Creek ISD goes into the District’s general fund.
